My Journey Through Life

body { background-image: url(http://www.mbif.net/backgrounds/brightrosebordersrobin.gif); background-attachment: fixed} We travel life’s rough roads, some are dark and some are long. We often find we have to be strong, or our journey often finds the wrong road. No matter how rough and rocky the road, if we turn to God above, He will take our hands and guide us thru. He will teach us hope, love and just be silent and listen for Him. I was thinking today about how difficult for some people to take ownership in life. Many people walk through life by observing others and commenting on what could have been done better. They make what they feel are astute observations and judgements, but they never initiate change. I see some people every day who have a sour expression on their face no matter the situation. I want to tell these people that they have the OPTION to CHOOSE to live with a different attitude. I have been taught that “it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it.” I sometimes struggle with this in my personal relationship because sometimes it’s hard to change my attitude. There are many days when I get it right, and many more that I get it wrong. But, i’ve learned from my mistakes. I believe in the journey of life that we encounter many “angels”. People who come into our life either for a brief time or for a longer stay to make a difference, to teach us a lesson, to love us and show us that life is not meant to be walked alone, those I hold dearest to my heart are my most precious gifts from God. “Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others, It is because we are different that each of us is special. Do not set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you. Do not be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave. Do not shut out of your life by saying it is impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give love; The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly. In addition, do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way..

Remembering blogging …

When i click the “update blog”, i noticed that Friendster changed the themes and the whole outlook in blogging. It was pretty cool though cause you’ll get to choose the designs that you wanted to be posted in your blog. I was trying to figure out how to bring back my previous layout but unfortunately i couldnt recovered it anymore, probably Friendster wouldn’t allow certain Html’s.. seems like they’ve changed their codes recently thats why im having problems accessing my blog. Well, not that i always update my blog but its nice to see how many visitors visited my blog. As far as i can remember, 10 thousand people visited my blog and its overwhelming knowing that there are actually people whose really paying attention in blogging.. =) especially mine. I have another blog in the other site but i wasnt really into it, although alot mentioned that they’ve been recieving money from a certain site, but i dont think i can just sit in the computer and wait and check if there’s oppurtunities available.. guess its not my cup of tea. Its not the i dont want money out from blogging, its just that, i hate staying up late or im just being lazy all the time, especially in the field where im working now. I had to admit, im just like those people who can be interested in a certain matter, then the next morning or two, it would be forgotten already or not interested anymore.

Blogging is fun, its makes your brain works and function when you think of a certain topic to post, which is really good! Guess my brain isnt functioning very well this time, need more oil!! hehehehe..

Had a blast lastnight!!!

Belated happy St. Patricks day everyone!! It’s better late than never but i’ll tell you, lastnight was a blast for me and my friends. It was not actually our plan to go to downtown San Diego, but unluckily, the karaoke restos around National City we’re closed every monday ( we didnt know that!! tsk, tsk! ) so we ended up having our dinner in Goldilocks. It was yummy but pretty much expensive for me though, i’d rather go the a buffet restaurant where you can choose and eat everything until you drop! LOL… Anyways, we had so much fun joy riding with lovely’s car, thanks lovely - our driver, as always! LOL.. We are all so desperate to sing, except for Ailene though (she has to go home early cause she needs to go to work the following day) so we keep looking for a karaoke resto, calling anybody we knew who might know some resto who are open during Mondays, but sad to say, no one knows… so we dropped Ailene to her apartment and ended up waiting for Delia to come with us and from there, we’ve decided to go to downtown San Diego for a partyyyy!! I had to admit, we enjoyed it a lot! Club hopping is fun though, seeing those crazy, drunk people in the streets wearing green and all kind of stuff. Picture takings are much much more fun, even at first we were hesitant to go inside the club, searching is we would like to stay there for a couple more hours… it was fun talking, mingle with people around the streets of San Diego, had to admit it was an experienced for me! From that point, i was thinking about the quote" Live life to the fullest, enjoy while you still can"… LOL. That was the first time in my life that i enjoyed clubbing a lot, dancing with friends and spending time with them was a blast and im pretty much sure that its not gonna be the last… ;)

Busy Bee

Its been a while that i havent updated my blog, been very busy these past few weeks, started when my husband and I went to East Coast for a week vacation. It was a lot of fun though and i am very glad that we had that trip, its been a year i guess that i haven’t seen my husband’s family. Tell you honestly, i had a blast spending time with them.

After a week or so, another trip came up with me at work. It was a 2-day workshop in Carlsbad, about 45 mins drive, i tell you, it wasn’t a pleasant ride.. traffic sucks! Felt like it was an hour and a half trip, but anyways, we arrived safely.. Carlsbad by the Sea is a sister Skilled Nursing Facility where i worked and also part of Front Porch Company. The workshop is for "Service Stars" and i was one of the lucky employee to recieved an award at work, they said we’re the first batch to recieved such an award… very flattering i should say. The first day was a boring day, all discussions and questions/answer portion, but we’ve learned a lot! The second day was a lot of fun, it was the last day of the workshop and our advisers/ambassadors prepared a very exciting treat for us, champagne poppin, picture takings, foods are amazing, also they gave us flowers and Service Star pin.. it was a very memorable day for me since when i first started working in Fredericka Manor Care Center. I couldn’t believe that it has been over 2 years now,  time flies so fast when you’re having fun at work…=)

It’s 12:18am now (Saturday), still awake and still thinking on what to type on my next paragraph. I’m a bit tired though, not finished arranging clutters here at home, we’ve been very busy assembling the bunk bed that my husband just bought this morning. We’re preparing for the coming of my mom and sis in law’s visit here in San Diego. My husband and I are very excited to see them again, it’ll be an experience for me too cause this time, they’ll be staying here at home… im pretty sure they’ll cook healthy foods, they’re very cautious about their food intake.. meaning, they only eat organic/healthy foods, which is totally opposite of what me and my husband eats.. but, what the heck, i can live with that..=) also, they’ve been mentioning to walk a couple of miles, they love to walk - its their form of exercise, you’ll see it obviously in the pictures thats in my profile.. they’re skinny!

Okay, time is up! Like to go to bed now.. night night, friends!! Muaaahhhh!

THank You, God!! You are soo good to me..

Wow never expected that i could become "The Employee of the month and also recieved a Service Excellence Award" at work. It was so schoking cause i’ve never really expected it, i have no idea their qualifications are to recieved such an award.. also they’ve choosen me as one of the SEA trainor, meaning im gonna be one of those people whose gonna conduct seminars/meetings with the staff. I was so nervous cause im not use to of speaking in public. But, one adviser of ours asks me to join the worshop and i did! It was held in Carlsbad, Front Porch Conference Hall, it was a 45 min drive from work, we were treated like visitors/guests and the food were so amazing!  Fredericka Care Center chose 6 employees representing each department and i represent the Nursing Department.  Also, im proud cause im the only filipina in the team!!! It was really a very nice Christmas gift to myself, been very blessed this year 2007 and hopefuly it will also in the coming year… i will be posting some pictures here taken in Carlsbad, been waiting for our adviser to make a copy for us..

Long time no speak…

So, its been a while that i havent updated my blog. And not much has happened though in my life except the wildfires here in San Diego for the past few days which makes us all worried, nervous and sad to those people who lose their houses and whose been suffering emotionaly as well as physically. My parents are even worried of us here when they saw the news on Fox about the Fires here in Southern California. I was able to talk to my uncle jong in Carson, near L.A and they too were experiencing the same thing, houses are burning, ashes are all over the place, memories are being lost, and people are being displaced.

This morning i’ve watched the local news in KUSI  here in San Diego, and they featured Pres. Bush arrival thru Air Force One and was scheduled to tour the fire damage, i think it was 9 - 10am here when i went outside to hang my uniforms at work, and i was fortunate enough to see the choppers passing by right above our house, and i’m pretty sure that the President of the United States was on of one of those choppers, escorted with 4 helicopters, they look so familiar like the ones i saw on the news.. who knows, maybe they’re all identical, LOL…

Anyways, the death toll raises to 8 according to Cox.net website, another 2 bodies were being found in their burned home in Poway, thats brings the number of deaths from the wildfires. Meanwhile, thousands of San Diegans were now allowed to return to their homes, for many the fires destroys their homes leaving ashes and debris. My prayers and thoughts are with you… i just hope that this will be over soon so people can start rebuilding again, it will not heal fast but little by little, San Diegans will recover to start a new beginning…

Welcome back, Charmaine! LOL..

Anyways, new update? Well, so far not much though except that i already applied for my Removal of Conditions (I - 751) and i just recieved the NOA for my Extension of my GC and the Biometrics schedule. I just have to request a day off for that day though cause its gonna be in the morning of Thursday, 10/30/07. So far, im into dieting now, well just for a starter though. I’ve been watching the food intake especially now that i’ve noticed that there’s a little bit changes.. just a lil bit though. LOL… but im willing to GO for it!!

I talked to my cousin Laicah in Torrance, its their flight today going to the Philippines for a 2-week vacation. She’s gonna be celebrating her 21st bday at the beach with friends and family. Wish i was there though. Anyways, they’re very excited for the trip and i’m excited too for them, not to mention the 16-hour flight that makes the butt numb! :-) but its all worth it.

Well, guys happy sunday to all! Not much to talk about though, same old same old, same as usual. Have a great day everyone!

Universal Studios II

Filed under: Uncategorized — charmainehanna at 9:22 am on Monday, July 16, 2007

Last Saturday, my husband and I decided to take a trip going to Universal Studios. It was our 2nd time around Universal and thought to go there before our Annual Passes expires. We left San Diego at around 7am, we packed our foods and bottled water in case we get thirsty on the road. The traffic flows so smoothly when we left, but when we reach L.A, gosh it was terrible!! But, thankfully we arrived safely.

It was last year when i first went to Universal with my husband. It was almost Halloween at that time and it was pretty cool with all those Vampires, Zombies walking in the streets letting you take pictures with them, its was fun and pretty scary! We went to almost booth or plays in there so we just roam around and take a lot of pictures of the places that we haven’t been into inside universal. I had to admit that it was pretty warm out there, they have mists in all locations where people can stay and refresh themselves and you can just feel the cool air/mists coming out from the fan/machine. I want to have those in the Philippines.. LOL. I wish!! Anyways, overall.. we had fun, although we left like around almost 2pm.. but we arrived here in San Diego almost 6pm, u know why?? cause of the traffic.. from L.A to here in SD, geezz.. it wasn’t even funny anymore. I had a headache when we arrived here at home.. but, its all worth it!

Happy Sunday!

Filed under: Uncategorized — charmainehanna at 11:27 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2007

I went to St. Michael’s Church today with Jane and her husband. I was very glad that i attended the mass before the Baptismal Seminar for baby Drizana. I didn’t know yet the exact date and time for her Baptism but the parents told me it’ll be probably on August. Anyways, i had a great day today cause i felt like God forgave all my sins already, well.. for this year only i guess. I had to admit that i still have to ask forgiveness a lot more to God, and go to church every Sunday before all my sins will be forgiven..

Jane and her husband picked me up here at home at around 12 noon. We had an appointment for Parents/Godmother/Sponsor Seminar today and i find it more interesting to know their guidelines, although i was already a Godmother back in the Philippines, but it seems that the church’s requirements here in the US is more complicated than i thought. I’m only a secondary sponsor for Baby Drizana’s Baptism cause the church requires documents that i couldn’t provide to them. But, that was okay at least i’m gonna be there for her Christening, welcoming her in the catholic life.

After the Seminar, Jane and her husband decided to take me to Korean restaurant. I have no idea why but they said, for a change. It turns out real good though although some of their foods are kinda hot and spicy. But, the chicken teriyaki is superb!!

We took some pictures in St. Michaels Church, feels like home. Our patron Saint in Iligan City is St. Michael’s, the archangel. His feast will be this coming Sept. 29…

Hawaiian Party in co-worker’s place!

Filed under: Uncategorized — charmainehanna at 12:05 pm on Sunday, June 24, 2007

It was a very long, tired and busy day at work yesterday. Seems like the tasks is never ending. Almost lunch time when i finally realized that the day is almost over and time for us to go home, take a shower, get dress and headed to the Hawaiian Party in my co-woker’s house. For the past days, my and husband and I looked for a dress/top fit for the party but what can i say, i’m having a hard time finding a top that i really like, got a lil arguement with my husband just for that. But finally, we found two tops in Mervyns, we bought the two just in case i change my mind.. LOL.

I took a cab going to Jassi’s apartment, it was i think at least 10 mins before i got there. We arrived there like about 4pm and the party started at exactly 1pm. Kids are everywhere, it was a house in a hilltop and it was really pretty. Some of my co- workers were there already having fun eating filipino foods. Most of her visitors were filipinos too so i got the chance to talk and mingled with them. A lot of them are from Luzon and only 2 people are from Davao, Mindanao. All of us had a great time and we thank Ate Charita for inviting us to come over to her Hawaiian Party..

It was i think 8pm when we decided to go home cause the party is almost over. And, so i’ve decided to visit and stay for a lil while in Jassi’s apartment, playing with her kids and her niece. They’re so adorable and cute!! I enjoyed playing with them a lot.

I had an awesome day with friends and co-workers here at home today. Instead of celebrating my birthday on June 1st, my husband and I decided to have it on Sunday, which is today, here at home so we could prepare the foods and everything. It wasn’t fancy or anything like that, but we had a great time including the kids..

Jassi and Monica are my co-workers in Fredericka Care Center, i invited them the last minute cause i thought they’re at work and couldn’t come. But, luckily i found out that they’re both off from work and thought to invite them for my party. They came here with their kids and Jassi’s husband was with her too.. i’m so glad that they came.

The rest of the gang: lovely, Annabelle and Ailene also came here except for Jane and Jerlalou who couldn’t come for some reason.. but i do understand, who knows maybe next time we’ll be able to have another party wherein the gang will be complete.. Thanks guys for the presents, and also to lovely and her husband who brought me a delicious cake. Also to my loving husband tom, thank you hon for the gift, i love it!!

Here are some of the pictures that we took.
